  • TBI Biomarker Pathway for Personal Injury Cases

An Evidence-Based Pathway for Biomarker-Based TBI Evaluation and Management

  • Objective Medical Evidence For Suspected Traumatic Brain injury

Biomarker-based testing adds biological context to neurologic evaluation for patients at risk of Traumatic Brain Injury

Blood-based biomarkers associated with traumatic brain injury can add objective, biologically-grounded evidence to neurologic evaluations that otherwise rely largely on subjective symptom reporting – supporting definitive confirmation or rule-out of mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury.

Multiple states have enacted biomarker testing coverage laws recognizing the role of evidence-based biomarker testing in diagnosis, treatment, management, and ongoing monitoring when supported by clinical utility and scientific evidence.

Purpose-built solutions that help attorneys responsibly incorporate modern diagnostic tools - designed to reduce administrative burden while preserving clinical independence and evidentiary integrity.

    Intake & Case Registration Services

BCX Case Registration Services provide a structured intake process that enables counsel to initiate access to the TBI Biomarker Pathway and request evaluation by a qualified Participating Provider licensed in the patient's state.

The service supports standardized pathway administration, transparent CPT-based pricing, and centralized case onboarding within the pathway.

    Appointment Scheduling & Provider Coordination

BCX Care Coordination Services facilitate scheduling of patient appointments with Participating Providers who are licensed in the patient's state and experienced in the relevant medical condition.

If diagnostic testing is independently ordered by a treating provider, BCX Care Coordination Services also facilitate scheduling and coordination of specimen collection (phlebotomy) appointments and related logistics.

    Payment Agreement Administration

BCX Channel Services support the administration of Letters of Protection (LOPs), Direct-Pay Agreements, and other authorized payment arrangements established among counsel, patients, Participating Providers, and Participating Laboratories.

Administrative workflows are managed in accordance with the terms approved by the applicable parties.

    Medical & Billing Records Management

BCX Records Management Services support the collection, organization, and delivery of medical records, laboratory reports, physician reports, diagnostic results, billing records, and related documentation generated within the pathway.

Authorized stakeholders may access organized, case-specific documentation to support case management, medical-legal review, reimbursement administration, and evidentiary requirements.

  • When requested, BioConnetiX also connects attorneys with qualified medical sub-specialists for clinical consultation, case review, or expert witness support.

    • Comprehensive Neurotrauma Assessments are performed by participating neurologists, neuro-intensivists, and other qualified neurologic subspecialists who:
      • Have specialized experience in the diagnosis and management of traumatic brain injury
      • Have completed pathway-specific training regarding biomarker-informed neurotrauma evaluation
      • Maintain all required professional licenses and credentials in the patient's state of care

    Medical Services Provided

    • Participating Providers independently evaluate each patient and determine the appropriate course of medical care based upon their professional judgment and the patient's clinical presentation. Services may include:
      • Comprehensive neurotrauma evaluation and written clinical report
      • Assessment of neurological symptoms, functional impairment, and injury history
      • Ordering of medically necessary diagnostic testing when clinically indicated
      • Development of diagnostic and treatment recommendations based on the provider's independent medical judgment

The Participating Provider independently determines whether biomarker testing, neuroimaging, neuropsychological testing, specialist referral, or other diagnostic modalities are medically appropriate. Any recommended testing, treatment, or follow-up care will be documented within the provider's clinical records.

All Professional Services are billed by the treating or consulting provider.
